Individual Medical Insurance is designed to fit the needs…

Individual Medical Insurance is designed to fit the needs of individuals and dependents on a long term basis. Most plans are set up to utilize a company’s Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) and most clients are interested in:
1. Office Visit Co-Pay
2. Prescription Drug Benefit
3. Coinsurance Limit – 90/70%, 80/60%, 70/50%

Please review the following three carriers:
Blue Cross Blue Shield – variety of plans and a very broad network
Humana – competitive rates, telephone enrollment process.
John Alden – large network, competitive, can set up HSA account.
Unicare – usually the lowest cost plan, good network, excellent service.

TWO WAYS TO GET QUOTES:
1. Click on the appropriate company logo below:
a. Review the physician network (to see if your doctors are “in network”),
b. Obtain premium quotes on the carrier’s web site, and
c. Print an application to complete and fax to our office , or
2. Email us your information and we will generate the quotes for you. (See comments box below – we need your name, address, age, and smoker status)

Once a coverage plan is selected an application is completed and submitted to the carrier. The underwriting process can take as long as 30 days. If you need coverage immediately, buy Short Term Medical coverage and be covered tomorrow.

The underwriting process will end in one of four ways:

1. Application is approved as submitted.
2. Application is approved with an increase in cost and/or coverage riders. “Riders” are coverage exclusions that can be attached to the policy for a variety of medical conditions – based on your application.
3. Delayed or postponed usually means the carrier is waiting to obtain additional information and has closed your file until that information is available.
4. Declined: Although approximately 75% of all applications are approved there are certain medical conditions that are not insurable. Carriers usually have an appeals process where alternate options can be explored.
